Hardware options:
Let's face it. Everyone has their own preferences as to what type of hardware they like and want on their instruments. Whether it is brand names such as Kahler, Graph Tech, Fender, Floyd Rose, Gibson, Gotoh, Grover, Planet waves, Schaller, Sperzel, Wilkinson, or whomever, or whether it is choice of finishes such as black chrome, chrome, gold, or satin chrome.
With this said, we will work with you in effort to satisfy your personal choices regarding both brand names, as well as finish for the hardware used to build your custom. While hardware for the most part is standardized in connection to the model and grade, we can make changes that allow you to personalize your instrument. These changes do sometimes impact the cost, but the payoff is your own personalized instrument.
Tuner options:
While our standard tuner set is the Planet Waves Auto Trim locking tuners in an 18:1 ratio, at the request of the customer, we will also use tuners from Fender, Gibson, Gotoh, Grover, Schaller, Sperzel, or Waverly, with the appropriate price indexing. We will also use covered or uncovered Kluson type tuners at the customer's request, otherwise only sealed precision and locking type tuners are ever used.
As different brands and/or types of tuners require different hole sizes and screw locations, we will need to know at the time of your order what tuners you want. Once again, finishes include black chrome, regular chrome, satin chrome, or gold, depending on model and manufacturer of the tuners.
Bridge/Tremolo & string saddle options:
Because each player is unique in his or her musical style, tone, and sound, we offer a good selection of bridges, tremolo systems, and string saddles.
Whether you prefer a fixed bridge, tremolo system, tune-o-matic, wrap around, or whatever, we can and will gladly work with you.
All tremolo systems such as Kahler, Graph Tech, Fender, Wilkinson, Floyd Rose, etc., that allow the installation of a Hip Shot Tremsetter, come with this already installed as standard equipment. This option is not available on Kahler Cam type, or Bigsby style tremolos.
String saddles by Graph Tech are standard on all AxCalibur Industries guitars where available.
In addition, piezo pickup systems such as Fishman, L.R. Baggs, or the Ghost system from Graph Tech are also available as options for those who want to add acoustic tone to their solidbody electrics.
Knob, Strap Lock, Plate & Screw options:
Face it, these parts are small, inconsequential pieces, right? WRONG!!! While these pieces are for the most part small, they are by no means inconsequential. That is why here at AxCalibur Industries, we use only the highest quality pieces in chrome, black chrome, gold, and stainless. No plastic tone and volume knobs. Only high quality metal knobs in domed or top hat style, with or without pearl or abalone inlay in the caps. As for strap locks, while all AxCalibur Industries guitars and basses come with Schaller or Grover strap locks as standard equipment, you may opt for Dunlop or Zeppelin strap locks instead, with of course appropriate pricing.
(*NOTE*: If you change out the strap attachments to anything other than what it came with from AxCalibur Industries and your guitar or bass takes a dive, you are responsible for the repairs and the limited lifetime warranty is voided!!!)
Neck, jack, and control cavity covers are steel and are available in black chrome, regular chrome, satin chrome, and gold. Upon request, we can provide control cavity covers made from such materials as pearloid, abalone, or pickguard materials to match inlays, fretboard markers, binding, etc.
With respect to screws and attachment hardware, as standard equipment, threaded brass inserts with high grade machine screws are used wherever possible to ensure proper torque value. This is the AxCalibur Industries Tone Torque process. All neck, jack, bridge, and strap lock attachments are secured in this manner. Additionally, depending on routing and size of tremolo and control cavity cover plates, these are used in place of wood screws whenever, and wherever possible. This is key to the stability of the instrument in every way.
As for instruments that utilize mounting rings for dual coil humbucker pickups, once again we will only use top quality metal mounting rings in black, chrome, or gold. No plastic mounting rings will be used, period!!
